Coaches, managers & umpires

Coaches, managers and umpires are the people who keep our club, and Hills District Netball Association running smoothly.

Have you ever coached, umpired or managed a team before?
Regardless of your experience, if you are interested and keen to learn, we would love to hear from you!

Umpiring

Have you umpired before? Or are you interested in trying?
At West Pennant Hills Netball Club, we accept umpires from age 14 onwards.
Umpiring is a great way to become more involved with netball and the club, learn the intricacies of our sport, make new friends, get some exercise, and get paid!

To begin your umpiring journey:

  1. Register as a member of Netball NSW

  2. Complete the 'Foundation Umpire Course

  3. Pass the 'Rules of Netball Theory Exam'

Once you have completed these steps, send your certificate to our friendly umpiring convenors - juniorumpiring.wphnetball@gmail.com & umpiredevelopment.wphnetball@gmail.com

After passing the 'Rules of Netball Theory Exam', first-time umpires for the Hills District Netball Association are required to participate in a training day before the season commences. Our umpiring team will be in touch with you to organise your participation.

When the season commences, you will be paired up with a first-time buddy, and an experienced mentor to ensure you have the best and most supportive environment to grow your umpiring skills and confidence.

Umpires are required to wear white uniforms (shirt/singlet/dress/shorts/skirt/jacket of your choosing), have netball-appropriate footwear, a copy of the official rulebook, and most importantly - a whistle! We recommend the use of 'Thunderer' whistles

If you are an experienced umpire looking to  join West Pennant Hills Netball, please email our umpiring convenors with your current accreditation details - juniorumpiring.wphnetball@gmail.com & umpiredevelopment.wphnetball@gmail.com.

We look forward to seeing you on team white!

Coaching & Team Management

Volunteer coaches and managers are the backbone of the West Pennant Hills Netball Club!

Coaching or managing a team is a fun and rewarding way to get involved with our community.

Our coaches are required to host a training session once a week per team (depending on the grade and age group!) and attend weekly games during the winter competition. Training sessions can be held at Pennant Hills Park or West Pennant Hills Public School on a set day and time - depending on what is convenient for parents, players and the coach.
Our team can offer you support through mentoring and by offering drills, training session plans and game-day planning assistance.

Managers should attend Saturday games and be the main point of communication for players and the coach with the WPH committee.

We welcome coaches and managers of all ages and experience levels at West Pennant Hills - all we need from you is a Working With Children Check.
If you have any questions or you're interested in joining our team as a volunteer, please email wphnetball@outlook.com

Thanks for your interest!
